Children Benefit From Counseling
Is your child having tantrums for no apparent reason? Do the tantrums seem to last forever? Is he/she not liking school, preschool, or daycare and you don’t know why? Does your child have a hard time playing with other children? You’re not alone. Children 6 years and younger often act in these ways. Children at this age can benefit from family counseling and/or play therapy.
Play therapy can be particularly helpful if the child is experiencing anxiety, having trouble controlling their behavior, has a history of abuse or neglect or if they need help developing healthy boundaries. Play is the natural language for children and can help develop a child’s sense of self-esteem and resiliency. In family counseling, I work with you and your child to find better ways to communicate and set firm but fair boundaries.
Parents often need support to help children with these difficult behaviors. In family counseling, I work with you and your child to help bring harmony back to the household. I can show you different ways to speak and interact with your child that will make them feel loved and understood.
